I was raised on a farm, with boots on before breakfast and chores done before school. I learned how to spot a healthy animal, how to build trust with livestock, and how to work with the land—not against it. Through 4-H, I learned responsibility, respect, and the deep value of community.
Those lessons have never left me, and they shape every decision we make at The Roost.
We farm with care because we’re feeding the people who matter most—our family, our friends, and the neighbours who’ve become both.
We don’t rush things here. Our animals live the kind of life they were meant to—grazing, foraging, scratching, dust bathing, and roaming wide open spaces. This means they take longer to raise than your average factory-farmed or Hutterite-sourced animal, but the result is undeniable. Healthier animals. Richer flavour. Meat and eggs that carry the depth and quality of real care.
We raise heritage breeds because they’re hardy, curious, and better suited to life on pasture. They're not built for fast turnaround—they’re built for flavour, resilience, and a stronger connection to traditional farming methods.
Everything our animals eat comes from within 50km of our homestead. We source local hay, organic pulse and cereal screenings, and participate in The Loop program—a food waste reduction initiative that gives new life to grocery store produce and baked goods that are no longer suitable for sale. What others throw away, we turn into nutritious, varied feed. It's a win for the environment, the animals, and the broader food system.
We keep soy and fillers out of the mix, and our animals are never fed anything we wouldn’t feed ourselves.
Our community is at the heart of everything we do. We don’t farm for the masses—we farm for the folks who know our names, have stood at our booth at the market, and trust us to put something real on their tables. We serve our family and friends first, and when you join us as a customer, you’re more than a transaction—you’re part of the circle.
We show up at the Regina Farmers' Market because we love putting faces to the food. We deliver directly to homes because real connection doesn’t end at the farm gate. And when harvest is good, you’ll hear from us—because this work isn’t about hoarding abundance, it’s about sharing it.
